This year marks ten years since our research group began collaborating with Deutsche Welle (DW). Yesterday, Kai Eckert visited DW in person to mark the occasion and to meet with both old and new members of this long-standing collaboration.
Familiar Faces at DW
A particular highlight of the visit was meeting two of Kai Eckert’s former students in person, who now work at DW. Over the years, DW has hired several graduates from our group - probably the best indication for a successful industry university partnership.
Continuing Joint Research
The visit also touched on a joint research publication currently being prepared with DW, based on a recent bachelor thesis on multidimensional readability assessment for editorial text. The thesis develops a framework spanning linguistic, cognitive, and contextual dimensions of readability, and applies machine learning models to automatically assess text along these dimensions.
Looking Ahead
Beyond the current publication, the meeting was also an opportunity to identify promising directions for future joint work, building on the foundation laid over nearly a decade of joint projects.
We look forward to continuing this fruitful collaboration and will share updates on the joint publication and new project topics as they develop.
